“If you could” Friday

Today is “If you could…” Friday!  Today’s question:

If you could be any mythical creature, what would you be and why?

I also posted my picks for the most anticipated YA novels for March.  I would love it if you stopped by and voted for the one you want to read the most, if any.

  1. A Dragon. What could be cooler than a huge graceful winged creature sailing through the air… and then blowing the poop out of something just because he can. Yeah, that’s my idea of a good time.

  2. Dang; so many choices, only so much battery power in the laptop…

I suppose it depends on the mood of the day. If it’s a good day and I think the world is a wonderful place to be, sign me up with the Sidhe. The mystical race of magical being who follow the old ways, the Tuatha De Danann, were to the Celt’s what superheroes are to us today, ideals that we relate to on a visceral level because some part of us just *wants* to be like that, or at least *around* something like that. (Hey, what guy hasn’t thought about being Steve Trevor at some point, ifyouknowwhatImena…)

And on those days I’m not sold on civilization and humanity as we know it continuing? Let’s just say there are some things you’d rather be during those times that it’s best not to consider…

    1. Love reading about the sidhe. Have you read the Glass Man by by Jocelyn Adams? I think you might like her Lila Grey series if you like reading about the Sidhe. Her books are dark, adult fantasy and I really enjoyed the novels..

  3. Oooh, I’ve always wanted to be a Unicorn! They are so beautiful, magical, and have so much love … but they also know how to defend their loved ones from evil if they need to. Unicorns are my very favorite! 🙂

  4. I’m really liking your If You Could Fridays, Jenny.

I’ve always wanted to be a shape-shifter, like Mystique in X-Men. Perhaps she’s not “mythical,” but the concept of shape-shifters is. I guess it’s due to a desire to fit in, adapt to my surroundings, be someone else for a day, to unearth secrets.

  5. This is a difficult question! There are so many wonderful choices. I’ll go with my first reaction (which may be in response to just meeting a beautiful blonde one of these in the book I’m reading) and say a centaur.
I’ve always adored horses; they’re graceful and magnificent. Riding them is another thing I’ve always enjoyed. Most centaurs also have some control over elemental and healing magic. This would be the best of both worlds.
Also, no more getting a chair when trying to reach the top shelves in my kitchen cabinets:)
