I must be crazy, off my rocker, completely bonkers to want to do this insanity again, but here I am, committing to 50,000 words in 30 days.
I realized in the wee hours of the morning I have to do this. There are too many stories I’ve started and haven’t finished. Too many dreams hanging around on my computer and I’ve been too darn lazy to finish any of them. I need motivation. I need a quick kick in the keister. I need to set a goal and stick with it. No more dilly dallying about.
So, I’m restarting my 2nd novel in the Chronicles of Fallhollow series all over again as the first version really kind of sucked except for a few passages that I will reuse. It’s also inspired me to finish the edits on book one and finish book 3. I HAVE to do this. God help me.
What about you? Are you participating in this year’s torture trial for writers? If so, what’s your profile name? I’m Slavandria (named after the sorceress in my Fallhollow trilogy). Maybe we can connect and encourage each other to finish our blasted novels.

Good luck! I’m playing along in a different way, but I’m getting into the spirit of NaNo! May we both get to the magic number at the end of the month.

Way to go, Jenny, I’ll be cheering you on! I know I don’t have the stamina right now for this, but I have picked up draft 2 of my novel and have been doing a little on it here and there when I’m able. I’m also working on a new poem collection, so have been busy also. Best of luck, I know you can do it! ~ Love, Julie 🙂 xox

I’ve just added you as a writing buddy on the site, I’m Mattius Watsonnius! This will be my 4th consecutive NaNoWriMo, and I’m feeling oddly calm about it. I don’t even question the fact that I’ll finish it this time. I just know I will, somehow, even though I haven’t a clue what my story is about yet.
Good luck! 🙂

I’ve designated myself as a cheerleader for this month. So go for it! This month you don’t have to think about revisions, edits, plot holes, excess characters or any of the normal stuff. Let the creativity flow!

Thanks, Carrie. Now if you can be ever so kind to continuously feed me coffee and caffeine, I would be forever grateful. Any volunteers for potty breaks? 🙂

Better yet, I’ll get one of those nursing home bedside toilets. That way I can actually say I wrote from my ‘throne’.

Oh yes. Definitely doing this. I set a goal of having a novella per quarter completed and sent to my publisher. NaNo will help me finish one project and start another. It’s a good kick start to get the muse monkey off your back for a bit.

Jenny, this is wonderful! While NaNo is somewhat rigid, in that you MUST write, I think this is helpful to so many of us who can’t seem to continue once the juice of newness wears off. I have yet to embark on this journey, but I hope to participate one year. Best of luck to you and your story!

Thanks, Cara. I came up 20,000 words short last year. I hope I can do it this year.

Jenny-
I’m sure you will succeed now that you’ve set your mind to it. Most of the time, we just need an extra shove to make that commitment. No, you aren’t plunging into the great abyss (even if it feels like it).
I want to participate in NaNoWriMo at some point. I’m participating in A Round of Words in 80 Days with a goal of 5,000 words per week. It seems pretty wimpy, but I fell short the first week, met the next two weeks and have about 800 words written this week.
You can write 50,000 words in the next 30 days. I know you can!
