In approximately 12 days, writers everywhere will embrace NaNoWriMo. The internet is alive with chatter like the following:
- “Are you going to participate this year?”
- “Do you have an idea in mind?”
- “I’m going to lock myself in a cabin for a month so I can write a book. What about you?”
- “I like to outline my novel before I start NaNoWriMo. What is your approach?”
- “What foods do you eat during NaNoWriMo?”
I tried NaNo last year, but didn’t reach the required 50,000 words. I’m not sure if I’ll do it this year. Perhaps I should. Maybe it would motivate me to complete my 2nd novel. Hmm. I still have 19 days to think about it.
In the meantime, I offer the following to all you NaNo writers out there. May the force be with you and may the odds be ever in your favor.

I love the video! 🙂
I haven’t decided if I’ll participate. I’ve never done anything like that before. Maybe if I get the majority of my research done by the end of the month, I’ll attempt it. I really do need to get going on my next novel. I’ve procrastinated for too long. Having a deadline might just motivate me to get it done! 🙂

Hope this works, I’ve never done a blog reply from my phone before! I can’t watch the clip because I’m on a train, but just confused why you’re saying 19 days? I thought it started on 1 November? Anyway, I’m doing it this year for the first time. Really excited to see if I can keep up the writing pace for a whole month!

Thanks for this post. I just heard about the competition last week but now I’ll take a hard look at it. And by the way, I just finished Shiloh’s Secret. Let me know if you’re still interested or have time even. I know the holidays are coming up.

That is so funny! I did participate in NaNoWriMo two years ago (successfully) and not at all successfully last year. This year I am giving it a miss, as my book needs a proper edit rather than another 50000 words.

I’m giving it a go, even though I doubt I’ll make my word count. I fell short last year by about half, but I still enjoyed it and I’m still thankful it gave me the boost to close up two projects I’d got waiting to be finished. It’s always worth giving it a shot–you just have to remember not to judge yourself in comparison to others and to concentrate on just moving forward one word at a time. 🙂

So true. I’m already signed up. I might go for it. If I don’t make it, I don’t make it. I have other stuff in the fire these days. 🙂
