Ribbons of light arced across the sky
Small fingers held my hand
As cotton clouds blew by.
A tear escaped when she looked at me
“Mommy, don’t be sad
Come play with me!”
In fields of green we laughed and sang
When we saw them, the ribbon-light steps
From whence the angels came.
I bade her with a kiss, a smile to keep her warm
Then she frolicked on the ribbon light
As she took an angel’s form.
I closed my eyes and I could see her there
Dancing on colored beams
Crystalline sunshine in her hair.
Then came His sweet voice, a kiss on the wind
“Do not weep, sweet mother,
her journey has just begun; it is not the end.”
Ribbons of light arc across the sky
Small fingers hold my hand as cotton clouds blow by…
